How the Valorant Leaderboard Works
JettorThe VALORANT leaderboard is the regional ranking of the best competitive players in the game. It shows who holds Radiant and who is closest to it, and from Immortal upward it is the only place where your exact standing is visible. This guide explains who appears on the leaderboard, what it shows, how to stay on it, and what changes when a new Act starts. Every rule below is linked to Riot's own pages.
Who appears on the VALORANT leaderboard
The leaderboard is built for the top of the ladder. When Riot introduced it in Episode 2, it said each region would show its Radiant players (top 500 per region) and its Immortal players, and it required 50 ranked games on the account to be placed on the board (Episode 2 Act I Competitive Changes, January 2021).
Two things changed after that:
- Immortal is split into three tiers again (Immortal 1, 2 and 3), each unlocked by a regional RR threshold. The full ladder is in VALORANT ranks in order.
- The number of Immortal players shown is capped per region. In patch 5.08 Riot said there were too many players on some boards and that "until you are in the top X amount of players, you will not appear on the leaderboard." The caps it listed were 5,000 for KR, LATAM and BR, 10,000 for NA and 15,000 for AP and EU (Patch Notes 5.08, October 2022).
So reaching Immortal 1 is not always enough for a visible spot. In the larger regions you also need to be inside that region's cap. Riot's current support article does not repeat the 50-game requirement or the caps, so treat those two numbers as the last values Riot published, which may have changed since.
What the leaderboard shows
According to Riot's Immortal and Radiant RR article (posted March 30, 2026), each region has its own leaderboard that can be filtered by rank, and each entry shows:
- games won in the Act,
- rank and Rank Rating (RR),
- Riot ID,
- title and player card.
If you do not want your name visible, the same article says you can opt to be a Secret Agent to keep your anonymity on the leaderboard.
Where to see the leaderboard
The main place is the VALORANT client. Riot also has a leaderboard page on the official site, but when we checked in November 2026 it said the page was "temporarily unavailable" and sent visitors to the client instead. Third-party tracker sites rebuild leaderboards from Riot's API too; we compare a few of them in our tracker apps guide.
How RR works on the leaderboard
Below Immortal, RR resets every time you pass 100 and promote. From Immortal 1 it no longer resets: it keeps adding up as you win, and the leaderboard is sorted by that running total. Riot's RR article sets out the rules:
- When you reach Immortal 1 you start with 10 RR.
- Immortal 2, Immortal 3 and Radiant unlock at regional RR thresholds (listed below).
- Radiant also requires you to be among the top 500 players in your region. Hitting the RR number alone is not enough.
The thresholds in Riot's article (Immortal 2 / Immortal 3 / Radiant):
- NA: 90 / 200 / 450 RR
- EU: 100 / 200 / 500 RR
- APAC: 80 / 200 / 400 RR
- BR: 100 / 230 / 340 RR
- LATAM / KR: 90 / 150 / 200 RR
Riot can change these thresholds, so check the article if you are close to a cut-off.
How to stay on the leaderboard
VALORANT has no rank decay, but the leaderboard has an activity rule. Riot's RR article says that to keep your position "you'll need to play at least one Competitive game every 7 days." The Competitive Mode FAQ adds that Immortal and Radiant players can fall on the leaderboard while their rank itself does not decay: other players keep climbing past you.
The practical rule is to play at least one competitive match a week while you want to hold a spot, and to avoid AFK and queue dodge penalties, which cost RR directly. Our guide to VALORANT AFK and queue dodge penalties lists them.
What happens at the start of a new Act
The leaderboard is reset in a softer way than many players expect. Riot's RR article says that at the start of Act 2 or Act 3 you play one placement match, your RR is reduced by 90%, and "your position on the leaderboard won't change." In practice this sends Radiant players back to Immortal until they rebuild enough RR to pass the Radiant threshold again. The new-season reset at the start of Act 1 is a separate, bigger reset; we cover it in how to get ready for the ranked reset.
Why the leaderboard matters for your MMR
At Immortal and Radiant the leaderboard is the closest thing to a public ranking of skill: everyone is sorted by one running RR total, so you can see exactly how far you are from the next threshold. Below Immortal there is no public ranking at all, and your hidden MMR can sit well above or below the rank you show. That gap is what decides how fast you could reach the leaderboard in the first place.
The free MMR calculator reads your recent ranked matches and RR changes and estimates whether your MMR is above, below or in line with your current rank. For the background, see our Immortal and Radiant MMR deep dive and VALORANT MMR explained.
FAQ
What rank do you need to be on the VALORANT leaderboard?
Immortal or Radiant. In large regions Immortal players also need to be inside the regional cap Riot introduced in patch 5.08.
How many players are Radiant?
Radiant is limited to the top 500 players per region who also meet that region's Radiant RR threshold.
How do I stay on the leaderboard?
Play at least one competitive game every 7 days, as Riot's support article requires.
Can I hide my name on the leaderboard?
Yes. You can choose to appear as a Secret Agent.
Does the leaderboard reset every Act?
Not completely. At the start of Act 2 and Act 3 your RR is cut by 90% after one placement match, but your leaderboard position does not change.
Facts checked in November 2026 against Riot's support articles "Rank Rating (RR) for Immortal and Radiant Ranks" and "VALORANT Competitive Mode FAQ", the Episode 2 Act I competitive changes and the patch 5.08 notes.
